Improvisation for the Actor
Living History/Creating Performance Pieces from Our Unique Person Stories
Introduction to Movement for the Actor

The demands on the actorís physical vehicle are enormous. He or she must have the physical stamina to endure the rigors of the rehearsal and performance process, the flexibility of body and mind to create a variety of convincing characters as well as the ability to give meaning and nuance to movement, gesture and stage business. Beyond this, there are a variety of acting styles - traditional and newly emerging - required within our constantly changing theatrical landscape.
This workshop introduces students to approaches to physical characterization that create a foundation for further growth and development. Exercises in movement, gesture, stage business and breathing impart skills that support the effective creation of the physical and internal emotional life of a character as expressed in body movements and rhythms.
